Father's Day Challenge #164 at FCCB

My step father is not a suit and tie kinda guy.  He is into cars, so I had to make his Father's Day card with cars as my theme.  I used one of those great images from Geko Galz, Start Your Engines.  Perfect, right?

I used Indie Art for the gears and cut them at various sizes from  DCWV Metalliac Stack in silver.  Everything is inked using Tim Holtz Black Soot. The black and white checks and the sentiment are both cut from this collage sheet. The card base is A2 size in black. I used a couple of silver brads and drew the chain with a silver glitter pen. I think it looks very masculine and I know he will love the car image. 

I know it is sometimes hard to come up with something for a man so do your best and join us at FCCB.  Keep in mind what you Dad likes and you can't go wrong.

FCCB CHALLENGE # MEMORIAL DAY

Hi! Everyone.  I want to share my project for the Memorial Day challenge at FCCB this week.  I know we all have members of our family who have been in some form of military service.  My grandfather served in the Marines during WWII.  He was stationed in the Pacific and was one of the lucky ones who returned home after the war and died many years later safe at home.  I want to thank him and all those who defend our country against our enemies foreign and domestic, which seems to be happening a lot too often lately.

My card has a vintage patriotic theme to it. Once again I used one of those great images from Geko Galz. I wanted to showcase this image so I used a white card stock as the base.  The mat behind the picture is red card stock, I think it frames the image perfectly. Tried to keep with a red, white and blue color scheme. The stars ribbon I bought last year for a 4th of July scrapbook and this was some leftover. I like trying to use up scraps. A white button in the corner with some red hemp finished off the image.  For the border I used Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge.  This cartridge has some great border cuts as well as rosettes.  I used Crystal Stickles to highlight the stars.

CHALLENGE #158 PAPER ROSES

Hi! Everyone. Sorry it's been so long since I have posted but I have been extremely busy at work this week. So glad the weekend is here so I can craft.  Behind on a lot of projects. Such as this one, the challenge for this week at FCCB.

I used my new Elegant Edges cartridge and George and Basic Shapes.  The paper collection I used is DCWV, Chateau Lavender. I cut the oblong frame at 4" and the shadow frame at 5".  The collage image is from Geko Galz "Nature's Child". I love the images that they have.  The sentiment banner is stamped in Wisteria chalk by Colorbox. I also used this for inking the edges of the frame. The stamp I used is MCT "Bloom Where You Are Planted" set. 

For the flower I cut 1 lavender and 1 cream card stock flowers at 2" from George and Basic Shapes. Then I alternated the colors and cut 1 each at 1 1/2"and 1".  I inked the edges and wet the cardstock so I could shape the petals.  I inserted a brad in the middle to keep the petals together and let it dry.  It's attached to the card with a glue dot. 

The ribbon and lace are scraps from my stash. The stitching is purple glitter pen. I think this card is very Spring with the garden scene and flowers.
