PASTEL PENGUINS

I know your probably thinking, is she nuts.  Well the idea hit me and I thought why not.  I cut them out using Create a Critter cartridge at 2".  I used a pastel paper from Paperbilities in pink, green, yellow and blue.  I was so tickled they were adorable.  I used gemstone for their eyes and twine from the Twinery for their scarves in matching colors.

The background paper is Artic Wishes by DCWV.  I have been using this paper for a lot of winter themed projects. The sentiment is a banner from the paper , Snowball Fight.  I used cotton balls and q-tips for the snowballs.  The igloo is highlighted with Stickles.  This card is #10 envelope size.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Die Cutting Diva's-#98 Penguins
Go Fish Challenges-#33 Color Challenge soft pink, yellow, green and blue

Working on Mini albums so back to crafting.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Wow!  I am so excited and honored to be spotlighted this Sunday on the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.  Arin did an awesome job and picked some of my favorite projects.  I've been really busy this month creating and crafting.

Take your time and cruise around my blog.  I have been trying alot of new crafting projects (altered boxes, altered frames, tags, etc.) so there should be something for everyone.

As Arin wrote next month is my blog anniversary and I'm planning a celebration.  It will all start on February 12, 2013. That's when I posted my first card for a challenge at My Pink Stamper.  I will be giving away blog candy so come back and check it out.

Red, Pink and White with a Little Washi Tape

I was so excitied to receive my new My Creative Time Stamps I had to make something.  Emma's new release stamps are Valentine related so I made a Valentine card.

I used red card stock for my A2 size card.  I stamped the pink background paper with the Love Collage stamp with red ink.  I also used the polaroid die from Simply Live.  Using Stickles I glittered the frame then I tied the red gingham ribbon from Offray around it.  The banner was stamped with the Forever stamp.  The heart is stamped with red ink and cut out.  I glued the trim around it and placed it into the frame with pop dots.  The little resin roses are Spare Parts from Paper Studio.  I have a white doilie under the frame.

The washi tape is handmade.  I watched a tutorial on You Tube by Scrappinology.  Gina had several great ideas on her channel for making your own embellishements.  You should check her out.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamps-Washi tape
The Pink Elephant Challenge- red, pink and white color challenege

Hope your having a great day.  Finally some sunshine here.

COWBOY VALENTINE

OK Another post for today.  I made a cute Valentine for a little boy.  I used my Paper Doll cartrige to cut the boy at 3 ".  The card is A2 size.  The papers I used  for his clothes are scraps from my stash.  The denim background is Jolee's boutique stickers.  The hearts are cut at various sizes from the Doodle Charms cartridge.

I used my Simply Live stamps from MCT for the words.  I was thinking of those little candy hearts that have sayings on them when I stamped them.  I used a red glitter pen to outline the scallop edges. Of course I used Peach Keen Everyday Faces for his smiling face.  I used my white gel pen for his eyes and rouge Colorbox chalk for his rosy cheeks.

The denim twine I used for his "lasso" is from the Twinery.  I wanted it to look like he had lasssoed the large heart. So here he is.

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

BIRD AND BRANCH

Hi! Crafting away, it's rainy and cold outside here.  A little Spring would be welcomed right about now.  The folks at Bitten By the Bug 2 have the same idea.  The challenge for this week is Bird and Branch. If anything says Spring it's birds.

Here is the card I made for this challenge.

I used my Storybook  cartridge to cut the cockatoo and the branch at 2 1/2".  For the branch I cut it out three times.  Once each in brown, green and red card stock.  I pieced the blossoms and the leaves onto the branch. I used Tim Holtz distress markers in "barn door" and "peeled paint" to make the veins in the leaves and define the petals in the blossoms.  The little pearl centers are from K&Co.  I also used "vintage photo" to ink all the edges.  For the cockatoo I inked some feathers and glued them between the shadow layer and the top layer.  His eye is a gemstone from my stash.  Of course, I had to pop dot him up off the paper.

The card base is from coordinations Chocolate Lovers collection.  The background paper and the cockatoo are from DCWV "Far East" 8x8 paper stack.  For the sentiment I punched the label from EK Success and used MCT stamp set "Happy Mail".  The crinkle ribbon I dyed myself.

I love the feathers.  They were easy to ink and I think they add a little whimsy to the bird.  Hope you like the card as much as I do.  Get out your Cricut and give this challenge a try.  Most of all have fun.
Bye, Bye for Now,
KIM

I LOVE RIBBON

I love to use ribbon on my projects.  Sometimes it's just a little bow and sometimes it's wide and shiny, like on this Valentines Day card.  I have so much ribbon I am running out of storage.  I have a rainbow of colors.
On top of the spools I have yards of crinkle ribbon I learned to make.

Here's the card I made using wide ivory satin ribbon. The base of the card in A2 size.  I used Coordinations Chocolate Lovers collection from Joann's for the layers. The patterned paper is Prima "Printery" 6x6 pad.  The flowers are also by Prima to go with this paper.  The brad is Paper Studio Spare Parts.

The giraffe collage sheet  "Between the Lines" is from Gecko Galz. I inked the giraffe's using Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress maker.   I also inked the edges of everything using Vintage Photo. The hearts are glittered red using a glitter pen.  I  wrote the sentiment because I discovered I have no stamps for Valentines.  Guess I need to buy some.

I love the way the giraffe's necks form a heart.  I also like the background text.  I am entering this card in the  Challenge over at Come and Get It Challenge blog.  The challenge is Tie a Ribbon Around It.

Hope you like it.  Bye Bye for Now, Kim

BRRRR! It's Cold Outside

We are actually having some cold weather here.  I have made a winter themed tag to enter in a few challenges.  Here's my tag.

I used the Christmas /Noel Cricut cartridge to cut the various size snow flakes.  I cut two of each size and put them together with dimensionals.  Then I blinged them up with Stickles and gemstones. The crinkle ribbon I made myself.  The glittered button is from Elements.

The tag was cut at 5 1/2" from George and Basic Shapes.  The paper collection is Artic Wishes from DCWV.  I used it for the background and the "Let It Snow" banner. The snowflake ribbon is from Joann's.

I am entering this tag in the following challenges:

Monochromatic Tag Challenge

I entered the Monochromatic Tag Challenge over at 2 Shabby Sisters Studio.  The challenege was to make a tag using only one color.  The original idea for this was from Jane at velocityvette1.  She has a tutorial on her you tube channel.  She used the glimmer mist demomstated by NurseTara04 on her you tube channel. If your interested in giving this a try it was very challenging.  I didn't know how difficult it would be.  I think the end result is beautiful.

I decided on a bird theme.  The paint color I used is Antique Silk pearlized paint by Martha Stewart. I cut the bird from the Home Accent cartidge on my cricut.  I modge podged it on the tag and painted it all.  I then used TCW 6x6 Template Mini Birds of a Feather with moulding paste tinted with the paint for the tree branch and birdcage.  Most of the embellishments and flowers are from Paper Studios Spare Parts.  The lace and ribbon  and feather are all from my stash, leftover pieces from other projects.  I sprayed them all with the glimmer mist I made using NurseTara04 tutorial.  With all the layering it's hard to see all the embellishments. As you can see some of them took the color better than others. Shout out to Rhonda I used one of the stickpins you gave me for the 12 Days of Christmas swap.

I would appreciate any comments, or if you have any questions about materials used or techniques.
Back to crafting so Bye, Bye for Now

Just Chillin'

Well here in Mississippi it's not that cold but I know most of the USA is covered in snow right now. I think this little penquin from Create a Critter Cricut cartridge is so adorable.  I have seen him make an appearance a lot lately. Love how easy he is to piece together.  I cut him @ 2 1/2".  I used red and white twine for his scarf, google eyes and cyrstal accents to make him shiny.  Of course I had to pop him up with foam squares.

The paper stack I used is DCWV Artic Wishes.  I used a small circle punch to cut out some of the snowflakes from the paper and put blue gemstones in the center. I used black to shadow the patterned  paper. I think it made it pop.  The card is silver A2 size.

I am entering this little guy in a few challenges.

Wish  me luck, Bye Bye for now, Kim

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hope everyone had a safe and fun New Year's Eve.

I am welcoming 2013 with lots of crafting.  I know everyone makes New Year resolutions, but I don't bother because I never stick to them. I am looking forward to the new year though.  My blog anniversary is next month and I am making plans for that.  All I can say is "Blog Candy".

Since my move I have one room set-up for a craft room. It really makes it much easier to craft.  Right now I have several projects in the works.  Plan to enter some challenges and have some swaps I have already signed up for.

Check out my blog now and then, enjoy comments from everyone.

Bye Bye for now, Kim
