Challenge # 186, Ribbons and Buttons

For our challenge this week use at least one ribbon and one button on your project and as always a Cricut cut.
Here is my card using the County Life cartridge.

I used the wheat cut @3.50". I have never used this cut and it was a little difficult to put together. It had a lot of tiny pieces even cut at this size. I'm still not sure I put all the pieces in the right place. I used brown coordinations card stock for the base and coordinations kraft for my second layer. The printed paper is left over from another project.

 For the sentiment I used MCT stamp set "Piles of Smiles". Original stamp says Hello Fall, I masked off the Fall and just used the Hello. The label is a left over cut out from my Halloween stack from MME. I liked the harlequin pattern and the colors were perfect. 

The image is from Gecko Galz collage sheet "Sunnybrook". I used my watercolor makers to add color to the image. I used some vinyl trim I got from the bargin bin at Michael's. A black button and some hand dyed seam binding and this card is ready for the FCCB challenge.

GOING PLACES CHALLENGE #179 AT FCCB

Hope everyone is having fun crafting. The challenge this week is to feature a cut using something that gets you from one place to another.  I chose a sailing ship. Of course they don't look like this one anymore, but it was kinda historic or nostalgic. I liked the thought of just sailing away across the ocean to forgein lands.  Any way here is my card.

I cut my ship from Paper Dolls Dress Up Cricut cartridge using the pirate page accessories.  I cut it at 3" in yellow, white and the base color brown. The sails are paper pieced as well as the yellow portholes. I then used my gel pens for accent strips and the flags. I used scrap pieces of paper for this. After organizing them I found it easier to find the colors I needed and didn't have to start my project with a new sheet of cardstock.  I discovered I had alot of scrap pieces that where big enough to cut small pieces.

I used kraft for the card and embossed the backgroung with a Darice folder I bought at Hobby Lobby using my 40% off coupon.  The sentiment is stamped in Vintage Photo from TCP studio stamp set, you guessed it, a bargin at $1.99 from Tuesday Morning. I think I need to call this card a bargin since I used so many inexpensive items to create it. I also made my own crinkle ribbon. Maybe I should change my blog to the "Frugal Scrapper".  How do you scrap on a bugdet these days with the economy like it is. Send me some tips if you have any.

MORE BABY CARDS

As I promised here are additional baby cards using the bydigitalpaper images. This time I did a boy and a girl card.

SHABBY BABY GIRL

HI! Hope everyone is having a good week.  Attending a baby shower and need a card. I thought it turned out so cute I had to share.  I am also entering it in The Shabby Tea Room challenge for this week. The challenge is a baby girl or boy project.

The image I used is from bydigitalpaper on Etsy .  It is a 2.5" circle "Baby Party" collage page.  I used my Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge is cut the scalloped frame at 3.50"  I then heat embossed it with Frantage Shabby Pink embossing powder.  The papers are from my stash white card base, pink and then a pink polka dot. I inked the edges with a pink taffeta ink.  I used some pink lace and pink hand dyed crinkle ribbon.  The flower is recollections from Michael's.  I finished the card off with a banner sentiment hand written in pink glitter.

Hope you like it as much as I do. I hope the Mom to be likes it too.

Challenge # 171 at FCCB, Shaped Card

Hope everyone has had time to craft this weekend.  It's Monday again and time for a new challenge at FCCB. For this challenge the Design Team will be inspiring you with their shaped card creations.  Make sure you check them out.  Here is what I created for this week.

I used Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge for my shaped card.  I cut the card @ 5" using the book feature.  I cut it out twice reversing the image for the back of the card. I then scored it about a 1/4" from the straight edge then adhered it the the front. The scalloped oval I cut at 3.50" using the oblong frame feature in some teal cardstock.  It was a small scrap so I'm not sure what paper collection it is from. As you can see I faux stitched around the frame with a white gel pen.

The paper collection I used for the base of the card is DCWV "Butterfly Garden".  The sentiment I stamped using a bargin from Tuesday Morning $1.99 stamp set from Inkadinkado, "Love and Friendship".  I stamped it out using Key Lime ink from American Crafts ink pad (another TM bargin) then fussy cut it.   It is adhered using pop-dots for dimension. The Memories stamp is from 7 Gypsies.

For my embellishments I used some hand-dyed crinkle ribbon, Prima flowers, also a bargin from TM.  May be I should title this card Tuesday Morning card, LOL.  Each flower has a blush pearl for it's center. Some of the flowers I adhered directly to the card and others I used pop-dots.

CHALLENGE CARD #ONE LACE, FLOWERS AND PEARLS

HI! Hope everyone is having a good weekend.  I am crafting today since work had me busy Saturday.  I am trying to beat the deadlines so this will be a short to the point post. Here is my card for the challnge at The Shabby Tea Room.  There was a photo for inspiration and the card had to have lace, flowers and pearls.

FCCB Challenge # Cute as a Bug

It's time for another challenge at FCCB.  This week it's Cute as a Bug.  I'm not sure if a snail is a bug but I think it is so here is my Glam snail.

She's all made up and wearing her bling.  I made this card using some paper scraps so I am not sure what paper it is.  She is cut at 3" using Create-a-Critter. The huge stamp is also cut from this cartridge. I used some hand dyed crinkle ribbon in green.  The snail mail is from My Creative Time.  I love all the different patterns together.  To make sure she popped off the page and was the main focus I used foam pop dots.

This was lots of fun to make.  Hope you will join the challenge and link your project to FCCB.

Shabby Friend Card

Today I made a card for a friend who likes Shabby Chic. I used pink and green and lots of vintage photo to ink all the edges.  Here it is.

The papers I used are from K&Company designed by Brenda Walton. I've had it for a while and made a mini using it so there were only a few pages left of the pad. The sentiment banner was part of the paper pad as was the silhouette and frame.  I added a button and some green crinkle ribbon which I dyed myself.  I also added some crochet trim and a ruffle made by gathering the crinkle ribbon. I then added some blush colored adhesive pearls and a pearl bead spray to finish it off.

I am going to enter this card in the Shabby Tea Room Challenge Week # 171, Ruffles and Ribbons and use the colors pink and green.  I think this card will qualify. Wish me luck this is my first time to enter a challenge at this site.

ART-I-MAKE Charms

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a project I have been working on. This is for a swap at 2 Shabby Sisters Studio. I was to make 4 charms in the style of ART-A-CAKES.  I'm sure you have all seen them out there in the craft stores. Kinda pricey, so here's my take on them.  I have to say they were a lot of fun to make. I just let my imagination run with it. I was able to use some of those flea market finds that I just knew would come in handy one day.

Here is the first and my favorite. It is very shabby chic to me.  I used a brooch and glued the paper rose to it.  I glued that on top of a crochet dolie in pink. I then attached beads. On the flat center dangle I attached some little pink cameos.  The purple crinkle ribbon was just a little piece I had which fit perfectly.  For the presentation I used purple corragated paper and the background is from DCWV, Butterfly Garden.  I distressed it and inked using Vintage Photo.  This is a one of a kind since I will never find a brooch like this again.

This one is my second favorite. I used a sewing theme for this one.  More flea market finds.  I found a basket with a bunch of sewing items.  They wanted $40 for the basket but I told them I only wanted the items inside and they sold them to me for $3.  The wooden spool and metal zipper are just two of the items. I attached my charm to a Tim Holtz swivel clasp.  I threaded it through the spool and then attached the bottle cap to the chain.  The charms are Paris related and so is the image inside the bottle cap.  I wound the zipper around the spool and used a Tim Holtz pin.  A button and crinkle ribbon finished it off.  My presentation is more corragated paper and a dress form image stamped onto DCWV paper left over from a mini album I made.

Number 3 is Alice in Wonderland theme.  I used a Tim Hotlz bookplate and cut a playing card image of the Queen of Hearts.  I used lots of glossy accents to cover the image and give it that glossy look.  I glued the crown on after it dryed.  I used chain to suspend the charms.  I filled one of those small bottle sfrom Tim Holtz with blue ink and labeled it "Drink me" and added a clock and mirror.  The red beads are for the red in the Queen.  I found an image on the interent and printed it off and adhered it to more corragated paper in red for the presentation.  To top it off I added red tulle.

For my last one I went western.  I found this pair of copper and tourquoise earrings and wondered what I would ever use them for.  They worked great on this charm.  I hot glued it to a piece of leather and tucked feathers behind it.  Then I used a crochet trim and some jute as my bow.  The cowgirl image is Geko Galz, "YEE  HAW".  More corragated paper in yellow.  The back was a bit messy so I attached a kraft paper scalloped circle to finish it off.

Challenge #154 Easter at FCCB

This weeks challenge  at FCCB is to create an Easter project.  I have been making Easter cards and saved my favorite for this challenge.  My Mom loves roses and this card was made for her.  I think it's beautiful.  I used my Wild Card cartridge to cut the frame with my Cricut.

For the card base and frame I painted it with Martha Stewarts Pearlized Antique Silk paint. I then used a paper from DCWV "Butterfly Garden" stack and punched the edge with my Martha Stewart scalloped edge punch. The ribbon is dyed seam binding using Rit green and Key Lime Glimmer Mist. The pearl spray I found at a flea market for 50 cents. The pink pearls at each corner of the frame are from Recollections.  This image is another one from Gecko Galz, "Hops and Peeps".

Easter Cards

Well Easter is almost here and I have been busy making my cards.  I got a theme going and just changed the cards up alittle, using different papers and colors.  They all have in common the frame I cut on my Cricut using the Wildcard cartridge.  Each card has a different size frame to fit the pictures I used.  The images are from Gekco Galz "Peeps and Hops".  I love these vintage images. I also used my Martha Stewart edge punch for the scalloped edges.

I hand dyed the crinkle ribbon using glimmer mist and Ritz dye.  I think the soft pastel colors are so Spring and go so good with the cards.  Without further ado here they are in all their glory.

For this card I embossed the back ground paper with my Cuttlebug using the Birds and Swirls folder.  I used gold rub on the frame and the embossing.  The flowers are all from Prima.  In the center of this one I used a pearl.  I am entering this one in the following challenges.

For this card I painted the frame with Martha Stewart Pearl paint in Antique Silk.

Here's one in blue.  For this one I painted the frame with  Folk Art Metallic Ice Blue and added some blue pearls. 

I am still making these cards  I  have quite a few to send out so when I am finished I will post the rest.

BIRD AND BRANCH

Hi! Crafting away, it's rainy and cold outside here.  A little Spring would be welcomed right about now.  The folks at Bitten By the Bug 2 have the same idea.  The challenge for this week is Bird and Branch. If anything says Spring it's birds.

Here is the card I made for this challenge.

I used my Storybook  cartridge to cut the cockatoo and the branch at 2 1/2".  For the branch I cut it out three times.  Once each in brown, green and red card stock.  I pieced the blossoms and the leaves onto the branch. I used Tim Holtz distress markers in "barn door" and "peeled paint" to make the veins in the leaves and define the petals in the blossoms.  The little pearl centers are from K&Co.  I also used "vintage photo" to ink all the edges.  For the cockatoo I inked some feathers and glued them between the shadow layer and the top layer.  His eye is a gemstone from my stash.  Of course, I had to pop dot him up off the paper.

The card base is from coordinations Chocolate Lovers collection.  The background paper and the cockatoo are from DCWV "Far East" 8x8 paper stack.  For the sentiment I punched the label from EK Success and used MCT stamp set "Happy Mail".  The crinkle ribbon I dyed myself.

I love the feathers.  They were easy to ink and I think they add a little whimsy to the bird.  Hope you like the card as much as I do.  Get out your Cricut and give this challenge a try.  Most of all have fun.
