FCCB Challenge #212 For the Graduate

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day. The challenge this week is to make a card for a graduate. This year I don't have a graduate.  The area school colors are red, black and white so I made a card using those colors. The Cricut cartridges I used are Wild Card for the cap and diploma and Elegant Edges for the layers of black and red.

The letters and numbers are Thickers. I made the red tassel using embroidery floss.  The sentiment is a Fiskars stamp set.  I tied a white ribbon around the diploma and used pop-dots for dimension for it and the cap. Four black half back pearls in each corner finished the card off with some bling.

MAY FLOWERS AT FCCB

IT'S CHALLENGE # 211 THIS WEEK.  The theme at FCCB is May flowers.  For my project I made a card using the Kate's ABC's cartridge that I recently purchased and I love it. It has so many cute images.

I used glitter paper for some of the layers but it's hard to see in my picture. The papers I used for this card  are scraps from my craft room. Lately my scraps have been building up so I decided to organize my leftover pieces  from other projects and use them. The only new piece of paper is the pink cardstock for my base. 

I cut the image at 3.75 inches so it would be large enough to be the focal point. The sentiment banner is stamped with a MCT set, "Bloom Where You Are Planted". I used Tim Holtz "Vintage Photo" to stamp my sentiment and distress everything. The pink sheer ribbon is leftover from the baby banner I made awhile back, it was just enough to tie the bow.

My goal for the next few months is to use as much leftover paper as possible. Join our challenge this week and have fun making a project with flowers.

FCCB Challenge # 209 Use Patterned Paper

The challenge this week at FCCB is to make a project using patterened paper.  I decided to make a mini album using the book feature on the Elelgant Edges Cartridge.

I used the "Little Mister" DCWV paper stack.  It has some cute images for little boys. The back and front covers are cut from chipboad and covered with paper. The book is cut a 5". I used my Bind-it-All to put it together and added ribbons and a charm I made. The buttons are from my stash.

One the inside a made two pocket pages and several tags for journaling and some photo mats for pictures of my son when he was a baby.

Challenge #208 Use an Umbrella

Wonderful Spring day here. Glad I have made my card for this challenge already, because it's too pretty outside to craft inside.  I used Create-A-Critter for my umbrella.

I used the old addage "April Showers Bring May Flowers" for my inspiration.  I flipped my umbrella upside down so it could catch all the "May" flowers.  The paper I used is glitter paper. It looks green in the picture but it's really more a bluish teal.  I used bits and pieces of scraps and Prima flowers. The borders are a new punch I bought on sale at Joann's and I love it. I have been using it on just about everything I have been making. I used little blue gems for some bling.

Easter Challenge # 207 At FCCB

HAPPY EASTER 

Hope everyone had a good Easter weekend. The challenge at FCCB this week is Easter. I made a shadow box and used Cricut Sampler cartridge to cut my bunny.

The shadow box was originaly brown. I covered it with a layer of Gesso then painted it using Antique White. I covered the back with paper from DCVW "Little Miss". I have been using this paper stack  for a lot of projects, it's not just for baby girl stuff.  I cut the bunny using some of this paper at 3". I used a pink pearl for the eye.

As you can see I added lots of different Easter related items to my shadow box. The eggs and bunnies are from a flea market find. I bought a ziplock bag filled with Easter figures and eggs for $2.00 last year and finally found a use for them. Even the gold frame is from the flea market. It was a pen but I removed the pen from the back and inserted a picture from Gecko Galz. The Happy Easter letters are Thickers. I used bits and pieces of ribbon and lace as well as embellishments and flowers.  It was a good way to use leftovers from other projects.

Sketch Challenge # 206 at FCCB

I am going to call this post a "Tale of Two Cards". First this is the card that I posted for the challenge. I used Cricut cartridges,  George and Basic Shapes and Ribbons and Rosettes.

 Here is the inside. Sometimes I don't finish the inside when I am not using the card right away. I like to personalize the inside with my message, but since I was using this one I went ahead and finished it.

 Here's a tip. I like to write my message on another piece of card stock so if I mess up I can start over and not ruin my card. I then adhere it to the inside.

Now for the tale. I originally made another card for the challenge, but was never really happy with it. It looked OK and followed the design of the sketch, but there was something about it I did not like. Since I needed a wedding card I decided I would use the sketch and see how it turned out. I am so glad I did because I think it turned out beautiful.

This time I cut my card base as a 5x5 square.  I think that is what made the difference. Before I made the card base A2 size. 

The first step was spraying the white card stock with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist. It's hard to see it in the picture, but in real life it added a lot to the card. Then I ran it though the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dot folder.  Because of the square shape the folder was not wide enough to cover the whole card which worked out perfectly, because that is where I ended up stamping my sentiment.

The heart border was cut from silver paper using the Ribbon and Rosettes cartridge. I had to trim it down because it was a little too wide. I adhered it to the card and used white seam binding for the bow. 

The next step was embellishing the rectangular piece from the card design. It's two layers of paper, one silver and the other white. I stamped the black dot border using the Fiskars celebration stamp set. I used this stamp set for all the stamping on this card. The intertwining hearts are cut using the silhouette feature from George and Basic Shapes in silver paper. For the Mr. and Mrs. I used Thickers "Lark" by Dear Lizzy.

The finishing touch, four square rhinestones at each corner.  I used pop dots to elevate this off the base for more dimension.

And now you my be wondering about the other card. Well here it is. So you be the judge.

FCCB Challenge # 205 Spring Cleaning

Hi! Hope everyone is having a good crafting day. We all have Cricut cartridges that we have bought, either on sale because the price was so good we couldn't pass up the deal or we thought the images were so cute surely we would make a project using them.  Well Joann's had Cricut cartridges on sale for $19.99 and I bought Kates' ABC's. I have seen so many cards made using these images and I thought they were so cute. Well finally I have made a card using this cartridge. The challenge this week at FCCB is to use a cut or cartridge we have not used before. Here is my card.

I think it came out so colorful. The paper I used is from K&Company "Sweet Nectar". It's was a mat stack and a sticker pad that coordinated. All the papers and embellisments are from this paper collection. For my sentiment I used a stamp from our sponsors this week Mark's Finest Paper's called "Garden Bunny". It worked perfectly with my little watering can filled with flowers. I used pop-dots to give the card dimension on the watering can and the sentiment. For a little bling I used Stickles on the flowers.
